Working Your Way Thru Stress
Many of our ailments and discomforts come from stress. Stress can have many effects on you from physical to mental. Learning how to combat this demon can sometimes be difficult, but in the end it’s worth it. For me stress has been most visible during important events or holidays in my life. Near to the time I get burned out, sick and mentally beat. So knowing this has been a problem for me I have been working to avoid these disastrous effects. Especially since I am trying to get a business up an running where I will be constantly in time-sensitive situations.
Last month I had the pleasure of being apart of a Pop-Up Shop located in Brooklyn New York where I was given the opportunity to let others know about my natural body care products. Normally during a big event like this, leading up to it would have just been disastrous. Since I knew this was a possiblitlity I did things different this time.
One requirement to be apart of the show was to have enough products for supply and demand. As such, I paced myself to avoid getting overwhelmed. I used my planner and set aside a couple of hours each night to do some part of the product making. However, before I began that I came up with a way to break up the process so each night I accomplished something and when I started the next day everything flowed smoothly.
Next I made sure not to neglect my personal needs as I have done in the past to complete tasks asked of me. So I shut down any product making or business activities by 10pm. To get my mind to shut down I listenened to some soothing music and or meditation podcasts which I truly enjoy.
To lighten the stress load on me I sought help from my family who assisted me in preparations as well as the actual event. That was such a great help and really helped me survive.
Participating in this event not only helped my business but also helped me realize that I really underestimate myself. I am a shy person so thinking of meeting all these new people seemed like it was going to be so hard. At the start, I even had a bit of a panic attack. However with help and positive thoughts I was able to get through it. By the end of the day I was talking to people so comfortably I forgot about my fear.
For me there was no greater feeling than overcoming stress and enjoying this special event. I look forward to many more and will continue to perfect my stress combatting strategy. I hope this article offered some help to you and proved to you that you too can overcome and get pass any hangups you may have.
