The Best Gift You Can Give

Christmas is upon us and it seems like the time just flew by. Don’t know if any of you feel the way I feel this year. It just doesn’t seem like the Holiday bug bit me. With all of life’s responsibilities and worries Christmas is just seeming more like a burden rather that what it was intended to be. However we must not get the holiday blues and let our personal situations put a damper on the holidays. I’m sure we all have many family and friends who count on us to make the holiday special. So to avoid letting down those we love and cherish we must seek positivity and act off of the love that is in our hearts. I came up with some ideas that may be helpful and can be used as alternatives to gift giving. We don’t all have the finances and aren’t in the best of situations to lavish those we love with expensive gifts, but that doesn’t mean we should be counted out. Instead we can make some other contributions that will show that special one that we indeed care and appreciate them.

Host A Meal

An easy way to get folks together is to host a meal. The excitement of getting together and having the opportunity to enjoy food and socializing is a great way to win over their hearts. You can set up the event as a pot luck where everyone participates and brings something to the party. Then just enjoy yourselves and see how something so simple can affect the lives of those near and dear to you.

Go Out

Another great way to show your love is to plan a special outing with your friends and family. It can be a free event, a dinner or something special that you know they wouldn’t do on their own. This will have such a great impact on them because they get to experience something out of the ordinary.

Giving of Your Time

We always complain there is not enough time in the day but we do make time for those things we want. So why not make time for those you love and cherish. Offer your services whether it be for house cleaning, babysitting, or assisting those who may be sick or elderly with chores you know that are difficult for them to do alone. You can’t put a price on such a gift but the memories will last and live on.

Homemade Gifts

For those of you who have the creativity and skills to create things why not take some time out and make gifts for those you want to give to. This not only shows your talent but truly shows the person that you thought especially of them to make them something. They will cherish this gift more than any store bought item they receive. Some ideas of home made gifts can be a meal, knitted accessories, body care products, and jewelry. The list of possibilities can go on. So put on your thinking cap and figure a way to contribute something special to that someone’s life.

Swap Items

Last but not least this is a way many of us can benefit. Come together with your loved ones and set up a swapping arrangement where it is agreed that no money be spent. This will be where you give gently used items you have to someone in your circle who needs it. For example if you have a friend or family member who needs a coat and you have one in your closet that was hardly worn in good condition, this would be a perfect gift for them. Giving will really uplift your heart because helping others is a great feeling money can not buy.

Hope you enjoyed the ideas discussed here and feel free to pass them on to others that may benefit. Remember no matter what life throws at us we have a chance to get through it and gain something positive from the experience.

Have a Happy Holiday and look forward to chatting with you soon.
