Spring Is Here
After a long tiresome winter filled with cold days, I am looking forward to this season. Spring is here and this is the season of rebirth. Flowers begin to bloom, the sun begins shining brighter and days are longer. What’s not to like about these elements of spring? However, there is one thing even greater about the Spring than those things. This season affects our bodies in a positive way. The brighter days boost your mood and energize you. It also makes you want to do more outdoors as well. So let’s jump into this season and count the many blessings it offers.
Let Spring in the house.
Of course, we all need to do some spring cleaning now that spring is here but what we also need to do is take steps to make our surroundings lighter and brighter. Lighten up the clutter and bring in the season right. Put up lighter curtains and open the windows to let the sunshine through. That will get your day started easier and will allow you to get energized from the sun. You can also change your bedding to a lighter and brighter color. That will also give your bedroom a brighter feel. Basically, work with what you have to make your home comfortable and vibrant.
If you are like me and love shopping this is the time to get rid of those things that no longer bring you joy. Donate to someone who needs it and you will see how much easier it is to organize and declutter your surroundings. It will also make you feel good mentally knowing that you have helped someone in need. That’s a great mental boost. Sometimes giving up old things can be hard and if that is how you feel incorporate this rule to make it a bit easier: Whenever you buy something new, you must also get rid of something old. It gets easier the more you practice it.
Get your wardrobe updated with some brighter colors and lighter clothes. You don’t have to have a lot of money but find some pieces you can make into outfits that you are comfortable and that celebrate the spring. After all, celebrate that you are getting rid of those heavy coats and other winter accessories. You will feel so much lighter and want to mover around more because it will be easier without all the layers of clothes that you have gotten so used to wearing all winter.
Find a Hobby
Under the present circumstances we can’t get out a lot but we can go for a walk to see how the flowers are blooming and the trees are awaking from their long winter siesta. If you are still not comfortable going outside start a new project. Gardening is one I love and it doesn’t require a lot of money. Just time and patience. So you can make yourself an area inside and start working on a gardening project. There are so many possibilities, nurturing and growing plants and veggies is fulfilling and gives you a positive mental boost. So figure out what you like whether it’s bird watching, building things, or any other crafts that allow you to do something that you have a passion for and go for it. Start planning your meals to incorporate some of the fruits and veggies that are in season for the Spring. Some of the fruits include apricots, grapefruits, cherries, kiwis, mangos, strawberries, and many more. Vegetables include artichokes, arugula, asparagus, beets, fennel, greens, leeks, nettles, spring onions, radishes, turnips, and much more. Incorporating these fruits and vegetables will not only bright your meals and make them taste great but they will also benefit your health. If you get stuck and don’t know how to prepare a vegetable or fruit you’d like to try, no fret Google is there. Or you can go to a site called allrecipes.com. That site is very helpful and simple to use.
I hope these suggestions were helpful in showing you how to embrace the season and start getting more active so you can enjoy the pleasures life has to offer. Remember to do what makes you happy and give it your best effort. In the end, your accomplishment will seem that much greater.
Until next time stay safe and positive and know that we will make it through this time.
